DENIS DESMOND

Denis DesmondDenis Desmond is the hidden face of Ireland’s booming music entertainment industry.  He has been instrumental in bringing Ireland to the centre of the world’s music industry, and, in turn, bringing bands such as the Rolling Stones, REM, Celine Dion, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Ireland, while being the promoter of record for U2 shows in their home country.

Denis began his career in music with the Cork band Sleepy Hollow. A civil engineer by profession, he started to promote gigs in Ireland when he was based in Hull. When he moved back to Dublin, MCD was born and started running small gigs around Ireland in the early ’80s.  Nobody could have foreseen that the company would grow to become one of the biggest concert promoters in Europe.

MCD Productions owns and operates a number of leading venues including The Olympia, The Gaiety, The Ambassador and The Academy.

Denis also develops, promotes and manages some of the biggest and best outdoor festivals in Europe, including: Oxegen, Heineken Green Energy Festival at Dublin Castle, T in the Park (Scotland) and V (England). OXEGEN is Ireland’s largest annual music festival, and fans from around Europe have voted OXEGEN as ‘Best European Festival’ at the prestigious UK Festival Awards 2008.

Each year, MCD promotes some 1,500 shows, attracting over 800,000 people

MCD in partnership with Live Nation have recently purchased the Mean Fiddler Group one of the largest UK based music promoters. This move has placed MCD in the centre of all major outdoor music events in the UK.
